Q - I'm a technophobe! Can you help?

A - We love technophobes! If you have never really used computers, then we are basically starting with a blank canvas, which from a training point of view is always very satisfying. You will also find that most programs on the market today are designed to be easy and enjoyable to use, and so the 'learning curve' isn't usually very steep at all. We specialise in helping technophobes and 'technology virgins' to quickly and painlessly make quick and effective use of music technology - software AND hardware.

Q - I'm a Primary teacher, and have to teach music, but I have no idea where to start, cos I'm not musical. Where do I start?

A - Fear not! Music is a huge subject, with an almost endless range of sub-topics, but you'll be glad to know that there are a lot of programs out there that are designed specifically for the non-specialist teacher, like you! They range from games-based programs (Music Island) through to programs that allow the pupils (and teachers) to not only learn about music, but create their own compositions (Groovy). If you are just stuck for ideas, then there are even programs that give you lesson plans, resources, ideas etc (Starclass).

Q - My school just provided a SmartBoard, but I've got no idea what to do with it, apart from show programs and videos from my PC to the class. Surely it can do more than that?

A - Of course it can! SmartBoard comes with a suite of programs, including Smart Notebook. This is a great program to get kids using the whiteboard (yes - the KIDS using the whiteboard). Remember it's called an INTERACTIVE whiteboard, and you can easily create fully engaging and interactive lessons using Notebook, lessons that include links to websites, sounds, images, games, and much more. The only limit is your imagination. We can show you how to get the best from your SmartBoard, with a particular emphasis on teaching Music.
