Q - I've been using Sibelius for years, but find it slow and awkward to use. Where
am I going wrong?
A - Most people fire up Sibelius and can work out a way that they can use the program
to put notes onto a stave. Chances are that this is the LEAST effective way to use
it. We can show you the MOST effective way for you, and give you some other ideas
and hopefully the confidence to go and try some new things. By the time we've been
and gone, you'll be playing music effectively from a MIDI keyboard and combining
that with step-time input and a multitude of keyboard shortcuts. Very soon, you'll
be whizzing through full scores and sets of parts in no time.
Q - My computer isn't powerful enough to run modern music programs. How much will
it cost me to get a new one?
A - Whoa, hold on there! Are you sure you need a new one? If you have a computer
that was bought within the last, say, 5 years, chances are it is plenty powerful
enough to run the vast majority of music software out there. Even if it isn't, it
may just need a memory upgrade, or perhaps a new soundcard to bring it up to scratch.
Memory isn't expensive, and a decent soundcard costs less than £100, and both are
really easy to install. Drop us an email and we can advise and/or come to you and
upgrade your hardware for you. If you do need a new machine, we can advise on the
best and most cost-effective solutions for you.
